MANILA, Philippines - Lalahok si GM Wesley So sa gaganaping 27th Summer Universiade sa Kazan, Russia mula Hulyo 6 hanggang 17.

Tinanggap ng 20-anyos na si So ang pagnomina sa kanya ng Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines (FESSAP) para maging kinatawan ng bansa sa chess sa torneong pinatatakbo ng International University Sports Federation (FISU).

“This is the first time I will be competing in the Universiade and I’m excited and looking forward to the tournament,” wika ni So matapos nombrahan ni FESSAP president David Ong.

Si So na mag-aaral ng Webster University at nasa pangangalaga ni WGM Susan Polgar,  ay  diretsong lilipad mula US patu-ngong Russia.

Gagamitin din ni So ang kompetisyon bilang pinal na paghahanda para sa paglahok sa 2013 World Cup sa Tromso Norway mula Agosto 10 hanggang Setyembre 4.

“Wesley’s entry to the Philippine delegation is a tremendous boost since he is our top chess player today,” wika ni  Ong.
