Dungca, Peyra bumabandera na sa karera

SAN FELIPE, Zambales--Pinangunahan nina deaf-mute Omer ‘Do-Or-Die’ Dungca at veteran Roger Peyra ang elimination round ng 2nd Gov. Jun Ebdane 4x4 Offroad Challenge sa Barangay Sindol noong Sabado.

Nagtala ang 33-anyos na si Dungca ng Angeles City 4-Wheel Drive Club ng oras na 21 minuto at 52.91 segundo sa Track A para ungusan ang 21:03.91 ng 58-anyos na si Peyra ng Bicol Offroaders Club.

Sa Track B, nagsumite si Pampanga Offroaders Club’s bet John Sambo ng mabilis na 5:08.29 kasunod si Del Mon­te 4-Wheeler’s pride Ambet Nicolas (7:31.90).

Bunga ng madulas at matarik na mga kalsada sa naturang event na inorganisa ni Zambales Gov. Hermogenes Ebdane Jr., ilang drivers ang nabigyan ng DNFs (Did Not Finish).

Kasama na rito si multi-titled Noel Bar­­tolome Sr. ng Land Cruiser Club of the Philippines.

Napag-aralan naman ng ibang dri­vers ang kurso na dinisenyo ng National Association of Filipino Off-Roaders para makatapos.

Ang iba pang bumandera sa Track B ay sina Resty Simbilad ng Suzuki Club of the Philippines (12:56.00), Arthur Sicat ng Angeles City 4Wheelers Drive Club (15:49.87), Rey Herrera ng Del Monte 4-Wheeler (16:14.41) at Ramir Nonato ng Suzuki Club of the Philippines (20:24.19).

“So far the tracks have been a big test for the offroaders, but finally, their skills and machines were victorous,” sabi ni Ebdane.

Bukod sa offroad challenge, inorganisa rin ni Ebdane ang Zamba Multi-Sports Festival, Zambales Dragon Boat Festival, ang Zamba Amateur Boxing Open, Zamba Attack at Zamba Palooza surfing competitions.

Pinapurihan na rin ang Zambales para sa matagumpay na pamamahala sa Central Luzon Athletic Association noong Pebrero.

Ang top 20 drivers ay aabante sa finals na may nakalatag na P200,000.
