CEBU, Philippines - Panagbangga sa duha ka overall champion contenders -- Team Philippines ug Team USA maoy labing atngan sa 12th World Eskrima Kali Arnis Federation (WEKAF) WEKAF Championship nga mosikad karong Huwebes diha sa Cebu International Convention Center (CICC).

Kini ang gibutyag ni WEKAF Chairman Emeritus ug Supreme Grandmaster Dionisio Cañete, kinsa nagtuo nga hugot nga kompetisyon ang atngan tali sa duha ka arnis powerhouse teams aron maangkon ang kampiyonato.

"Naa nato ang 'homecourt advantage' and hopefully we can claim the overall championship because the members of the Philippine Team prepared hard for this tournament," matud pa ni Cañete atol sa final press conference kagahapon didto sa Golden Peak Hotel and Suites.

"Aside from the fighters from Cebu, we also have members coming from Manila and Mindanao."

Ang Team PHL adunay 120   fighters nga mopakita'g aksiyon ning maong torneyo. 

Ang torneyo gibahin sa   single stick, double stick ug padded stick categories. Ang matag dibisyon langkuban sa   men’s, women’s, juniors, seniors, super-seniors ug kiddies class.

Sa iyang bahin, ang pambato sa Estados Unidos nga si former world champion Antonio Lucero mipadayag usab sa ilang kompiyansa nga makuha nila pag-usab ang kampyonato.

"We are all eager to compete and we came here to win," matud pa ni Lucero.

Gawas sa Pilipinas ug Estados Unidos, gatosan pa usab ka mga eskrimadors ang moabot gikan sa laing 28 ka nasud sa tibuok kalibotan.    (BANAT SPORTS)
