Smart suportado ang Leyte Sports Academy

MANILA, Philippines - Nangako ang Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) na susuporta sa sports development at promotion program ng Tacl­oban City-based Leyte Sports Aca­demy (LSA) sa pamamagitan ng Smart Sports program nito.

 “We are glad to share ideals with the LSA with a program that is enabling grassroots sports development in the country,” sabi ni Epok Quimpo, ang Smart Sports Manager.

Ang LSA ay itinatag noong Agosto 2010 ng provincial government ng Leyte sa ilalim ni Gov. Carlos Jericho Petilla ma­tapos na idaos ang 2009 Palarong Pam­basa sa probinsya. 

Ang Leyte Sports Development Center sa Sta. Cruz, Tacloban City kung saan gi­nanap ang Palaro ang siya ngayong nag­­­ sisilbing tahanan ng academy na nag­­sasanay ng halos 100 scholars sa la­rangan ng athletics, swimming at boxing.

Nais rin ng LSA na magbigay ng expert coaching at isang comprehensive sports training program para sa mga manlalaro kung saan maaaring magamit ang art of scientific training procedures, processes at practices.

Ang comprehensive sports education program ng LSA ay dinesenyo ni Dr. Lucrecio Calo, dating Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Executive Director at ngayon ay consultant sa Academy. 

Sa pamamagitan ni Dr. Calo at ni Ama­teur Boxing Association of the Philippines (ABAP) Executive Director Ed Picson, ang LSA ay humingi ng tulong mula sa private sector partners na nagbigay tulay upang ang Smart ay magbigay ng suporta sa Academy, sa mga programa at mga scholar-athletes nito.
