Palarong Pambansa nais ni Juico na i-reformat

MANILA, Philippines - Nais ipabatid ni dating Philippine Sports Commission chairman Philip Ella Juico sa mga kabataan ang kahalagahan, kabutihan at kaligtasan ng sports upang mahimok pa ang mas nakakaraming kabataan na maimpluwensyahan ng sports.

“Principle that sports for children and youth are organized so that they can play as much as they can the sport of their choice in an organized and safety-oriented way,” 

Inihayag ito ni Juico sa pagbubukas ng Philta-Toby’s Juniors Age-Group Tennis Challenge na suportado ng Smart Foundation sa Rizal Memorial Tennis Complex kamakailan.

Sinabi pa ni Juico, da­ting Secretary ng Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) sa ilalim ni dating Presidente Corazon C. Aquino, na ang children’s sports ay dapat hindi nahahaluan ng stress at pressure na madalas ipinapakilala ng mga adult organi­zers para sa kanilang mga personal na ambisyon.

Sa pagsalang sa sports, matutuhan ng mga kabataan ang skills at values na maaari nilang magamit sa kanilang kinabukasan.

Sa panayam sa kanya sa Investigative Documentaries na isasa­ere sa GMA News TV Channel 11 sa Mayo 24, 2012, nanawagan si Juico sa mga sports at education authorities na i-reformat ang Palarong Pam­bansa.

Ito ay upang mapakalat sa nasabing annual student games ang hangarin ng UN Millennium Development Goals (MDG) Task Force on sports.

Ayon pa kay Juico, kung naitayo ang Philippine Institute of Sports (Philsports) na kanyang ipinanukala bilang PSC chairman noong 1996, maaaring mayroon nang nationwide coaching pool ang bansa para sa elite sports.

Maisusulong din ng Philsports ang pagkakaroon ng mga academic experts at education lea­ders na kailangan para mapalakas ang physical education program ng bansa.
