MANILA, Philippines - Namayani ang mga Na­­tional team mainstays sa men’s Open at boys’ Under-19, habang ginulat naman ni Janel Dihiansan si third seed Ma. Victoria Vizmonte sa girls’ U-19 sa MVP Sports Foundation-Philippine Badminton Ran­king System (PBaRS) circuit kahapon sa Metro Sports Center sa Lahug, Cebu City.

Tinalo ni No. 3 Peter Gabriel Magnaye ng Phl-Victor si Jose Yason, 21-8, 21-8, para itakda ang kanilang third round showdown si ninth-ranked Paolo Sunga ng Golden Shuttle Foundation na tumalo kay Joma Castro, 21-9, 21-6.

Binigo naman ni se­cond seed Paul Vivas si Brent Wu, 21-12, 21-13, upang ayusin ang kanilang Last 16 duel ni No. 12 Jose Carlos Benipayo, sinibak si Jeff Garcia, 21-7, 21-5.

Ang iba pang nanalo ay sina Kevin Cudiamat, John Kenneth Monterubio, Christopher Flores, Andrei Babad at Joper Escueta.

Pinayukod ni Cudiamat si Henry Herida, 21-3, 21-8; giniba ni Monterubio si Joseph Patalinghug, 21-9, 21-12; iginupo ni Flores si Sherman Olalia, 16-21, 21-12, 21-4; tinalo ni Babad si Clint Armamento, 21-15, 21-19; at ginapi ni Escueta si Jie Plaza, 21-8, 21-10.

Umagaw naman ng ek­sena sa nasabing first leg ng isang three-stage nationwide circuit na inorganisa ng Philippine Badminton Association sa pamumuno nina Vice President Jejomar Binay, chair Manny V. Pangi­linan at sec-gen Rep. Albee Benitez si Dihiansan.

Ginitla ni Dihiansan si Vizmonte, 21-16, 21-12, para sagupain si 6th seed Patrisha Malibiran sa tiket para sa semis ng five-day event na suportado ng Gatorade, Krav Maga Phils., Sincere Construction and Development Corp., Vineza Industrial Sales, Victor PCome Industrial Sales, TV5 at Badminton Extreme Magazine.
