Athletics dominado ng WV, CV palaban sa overall championship sa PRISAA Games

CEBU CITY, Philippines - Winalis ng Western Visayas ang men’s at women’s 4x400-meter relays para angkinin ang athletics title even, habang asam naman ng Central Visayas ang overall honors sa PRISAA Natio­nal Collegiate Games.

Ang grupo nina Jayson Gualin, Louis Azzarigue, Jo­seph Binas at Ruel Gasinao ang nagdomina sa men’s relay (4:02.45) at ang tropa naman nina Rona Mae Villasis, Jerlyn Bernales, Michel Villas at Avejil Baclas ang nag­reyna sa women’s class (3:21.72).

Apat na gold medals ang ibinibigay sa relay event.

Kumolekta ang Region 6 sa track and field event ng kabuuang 24 gold, 6 silver at 6 bronze medals ka­sunod ang Region 7 (13-8-8) at Southern Mindanao (Region 11) (7-11-15).

Umagaw naman ng ek­sena ang Central Visayas sa likod nina triple gold me­dalists Ernesto Ybanez (100, long jump, triple jump) at Lorna Olarita (100, 200, 400-meter races) na hinirang na outstanding male at female performer ng four-day trackfest.

Si Mary Jay Tabal ang nagbigay sa Region 7 ng pinakahuli nitong gold me­dal nang manalo sa women’s 10,000 meters (40:18.75) at si Cordi­rella Autonomous Region bet Cesar Castaneto ang na­nguna sa men’s 10,000 (33.16.90).

Humataw naman ang Central Visayas ng siyam at walong golds sa lawn tennis at badminton, ayon sa pagkakasunod, para sa kanilang overall medal tally na 55-25-34.

Nasa ilalim nila ang Western Visayas (35-25-27) at Region 4-A (CALABARZON) (28-23-28).
