B-Meg mas mabangis

MANILA, Philippines - Aminado si B-Meg head coach Tim Cone na nagkamali sila nang papor­mahin ang nagdedepensang Talk ‘N Text sa third quarter sa kanilang 88-82 panalo sa Game One ng 2012 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals noong Lunes.

“You cannot give Talk ‘N Text a quarter,” wika ni Cone sa pagbangon ng Tropang Texters mula sa isang 14-point lead ng Llamados sa second period. “We got to play four quarters of basketball. We cannot play only three.”

Mula sa naturang ta­gum­pay, puntirya ng B-Meg ang 2-0 bentahe sa ka­nilang best-of-seven championship series sa pag­sagupa sa Talk ‘N Text sa Game Two ngayong alas-6:45 ng gabi sa Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

Kabuuang 20 free­throws ang naimintis ng Tropang Texters sa Game One na isa sa mga dahilan ng kanilang kabiguan sa Llamados.

“You can’t win a game if you miss 20 freethrows.If we had missed just 50 percent of what we missed we could have won by two points,” sabi ni mentor Chot Reyes sa kanyang Talk ‘N Text.

“Binigay na nga sa amin ‘yung regalo, hindi pa namin tinanggap. Kaya nga gift shots eh,” dagdag ni Reyes, hangad maibigay sa Tropang Texters ang pang limang PBA crown sa kanilang pang limang sunod na finals appearance.

Muling sasandalan ng B-Meg sina import Denzel Bowles, two-time PBA Most Valuable Player Ja­mes Yap, PJ Simon, Joe Devance, Marc Pingris, JC Intal, Yancy De Ocampo at Rafi Reavis.

Tumapos ang 22-anyos at 6-foot-10 na si Bowles na may 25 points at 11 rebounds, habang nagdag­dag ng tig-11 markers sina Devance at Pingris.

“As I’ve said before, to win back-to-back games in a series takes extra effort,” sabi ni Cone, nasa kanyang pang 24th finals stint at puntirya ang kanyang pang 14 titulo.
