2 shooter na lang ang pagpipilian sa Olympics

MANILA, Philippines - Sina skeet shooter Brian del Rosario at trap shooter Hagen Topacio na lamang ang may tsansa para mapasama sa London Olympics.

Naunang nagbigay ng apat na pangalan ang Philippine National Shooting Association (PNSA) sa International Sports Shooting Federation (ISSF) na kinabibilanganan din nina pistol shooter Nathaniel “Tac” Padilla at rifle shooter Jason Valdez.

Ang apat na shooters na ito ay inirekomenda matapos maabot ang minimum qualifying standard sa kanilang mga events sa mga sinalihang World Championships at World Cup.

Pero sa idinaos na ISSF General Assembly na dinaluhan ni PNSA president Mikee Romero, napag-alaman ng pangulo at CEO ng Harbour Centre mula kay ISSF Vice President at Asian Shooting Confederation (ASC) President Sheik Salman Al Sabah na puno na ang talaan para sa pistol at rifle events.

Si Al Sabah na kabilang ng Royal family sa Kuwait, ang tumulong sa PNSA upang mabigyan ang Pilipinas ng wildcard sa London Games.

“We have to lobby day in and day out for us not to lose that slot,” wika ni Romero na pinasalamatan din ang dating PNSA president Art Macapagal at ang pamunuan ng Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) sa kanilang suporta.

Patuloy naman ang ginagawang paghahanda nina Del Rosario at Topacio na parehong kasama sa Olympic Solidarity Program ng International Olympic Committee (IOC).
