Bob Arum nainis na kay Mayweather
MANILA, Philippines - Ang pag-ayaw ni Floyd Mayweather, Jr. sa isang 50-50 purse split kay Manny Pacquiao ang naging huling hibla para hindi na matuloy ang kanilang super bout.
Sa isang panayam ng BoxingScene.com, sinabi ni Bob Arum ng Top Rank Promotions na hindi na niya papansinin ang anumang pahayag na gagawin ni Mayweather.
“Apparently he is saying he isn’t going to do a 50-50 deal. So that is the end of the story. Forget about it. This is like craziness,” wika ni Arum.
Personal na tinawagan ng 34-anyos na si Mayweather ang 33-anyos na si Pacquiao noong Huwebes ng gabi.
Hinimok ng American five-division titlist ang Filipino world-eight division champion na maglaban sila sa Mayo 5.
“He asked about a 50/50 split and I told him no that can’t happen, but what can happen is you can make more money fighting me then you have made in your career,” ani Mayweather sa kanilang naging usapan ni Pacquiao. “I also let him know I’m in control on my side but he needs to get on the same page with his promoter so we can make this fight happen.”
Si Arum ang sinasabi ni Mayweather na humaharang sa kanilang upakan ni Pacquiao.
“I don’t want to hear about Mayweather. It is just a waste of time,” wika naman ni Arum.
Kung gusto ni Pacquiao ng 50-50 purse split para maitakda ang kanilang laban, gusto naman ni Mayweather na kontrolin ang detalye ng kanilang fight contract.
“Manny is the box office star, he is the pay-per-view star. He has all the endorsements,” ani Arum. “I would not have done 50-50.”
Kung hindi na puwede si Mayweather, si Miguel Cotto ang sinabi ni Arum na ‘Plan B’ niya para kay Pacquiao sa Hunyo 9.
Tinalo ni Pacquiao si Cotto via 12th-round TKO para agawin ni ‘Pacman’ ang suot na WBO welterweight crown ng Puerto Rican noong Nobyembre ng 2009.
Ang 31-anyos na si Cotto ang bagong WBA junior middleweight beltholder at kasalukuyang nasa isang three-fight winning streak matapos ang kabiguan kay Pacquiao.
