MANILA, Philippines - Hinirang si San Sebastian College center Ian Sangalang bilang Most Valuable Player ng nakarang Philippine Collegiate Champions League.
Ang six-foot-six na si Sangalang ay nagtala ng double-double average sa paggiya sa Stags laban sa Ateneo Blue Eagles at tinanghal na unang National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) team na nagkampeon sa torneo.
Nakasama ni Sangalang sa Mythical Team ang kanyang kakamping si Calvin Abueva, at sina Greg Slaughter at Nico Salva ng Ateneo at University of Cebu star Junmar Fajardo.
Si Stags coach Topex Robinson ang kinilalang Coach of the Year, habang ang Best Performing Referee award ay napunta kay Romy Mangibin.
“The awardees deserve recognition for their outstanding achievements during the season-ending nationwide event,” sabi ni PCCL executive director Joe Lipa.
Ang mga premyo ay nagmula kay Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas president Manny V. Pangilinan at sa ABS-CBN Sports.
Sumegunda sa Stags ang Blue Eagles kasunod ang San Beda College at University of Cebu.
Pinapurihan din ang North Central Luzon champion University of Northern Philippines, South Luzon-Bicol titlist University of Batangas, Visayas winner AMA at Mindanao titleholder STI.
