Douthit, Slaughter isinama sa Phl team sa 26th SEAG

MANILA, Philippines - Ilan sa mga miyembro ng Smart Gilas Pilipinas ang isasama ng Sama­hang Basketbol ng Pilipinas sa mga sumisibol na collegiate stars para sa darating na 26th Southeast Asian Games sa Indonesia sa Nobyembre.

Isinama ng SBP sa ka­nilang isinumiteng 12-man line up sa Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) para sa 2011 SEA Games sina 6-foot-11 naturalized Marcus Douthit at seven-footer Greg Slaughter ng Ateneo De Manila University.

Nasa listahan rin sina guards Keifer Ravena, Nico Salva at Eman Monfort ng Ateneo, Bobby Ray Parks ng National University, Ro­nald Pascual ng San Se­bastian, Garvo Lanete at Jake Pascual ng San Beda, RR Garcia ng Far Eastern University at sina Fil-Ams Clifford Hodge at Chris Ellis ng PBA D-Lea­gue champions NLEX Road Warriors.

NIlinaw ni SBP Executive Director Sonny Barrios na hindi pa ito ang kanilang final lineup para sa natu­rang biennial event.

“Baka akalain kasi ng iba na wala na silang pag-asa. So let me say na hindi pa ito `yung final lineup. There is a possibility na may madagdag at may ma­bawas. Nobody is cas­ting anything in stone,” wika ni Barrios.

Maaari pang idagdag ng SBP sa tropang haha­wakan ni Norman Black sina Smart Gilas stalwarts Chris Tiu at Aldrech Ramos, Calvin Abueva ng San Sebastian, UST guard Jerick Fortuna at Kevin Alas ng Letran.

Ang RP Team ni Junel Baculi na tinampukan nina PBA stars Gabe Norwood, Jason Castro, Jervy Cruz, Beau Belga at Jeff Chan ang nagkampeon sa 2007 SEA Games sa likod ng ka­nilang winning margin na 43.0 points.   

Maliban sa 1989 SEA Games sa Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, dinomina ng mga Pinoy ang SEA Ga­mes sapul noong 1977.
