3 nat'l tourney itinakda ng SBP

MANILA, Philippines -  Tatlong age group national tournaments, ang isa ay nakatakda sa Nobyembre o Disyembre bilang bahagi ng ‘Batang Pinoy’ ng Philippine Sports Commission, ang pagsisimulan ng grassroots development at talent search programs ng Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP).

Ito ay nasa linya ng kanilang three-part project tampok ang isang multi-level coaches clinic at isang comprehensive referees seminar-workshop.

 “The planned nationwide tournaments are categorized in such a way that there is a career path for our young players to look forward to on a national level,” wika ni SBP executive director Sonny Barrios, nakausap na ang mga lider sa local amateur basketball area.

 Ipapatupad ang programa ni SBP president Manny V. Pangilinan sa grassroots level, inihayag ni Barrios ang pagdaraos nila ng Under-14 3-on-3 national championship sa Manila, ang Under-16 national championship sa Enero 21-28 2012 sa Baguio City at ang Under-18 national championship na isasabay sa Philippine National Games sa Abril o Mayo 2012.

 Ang Under-16 tourney ang ipapalit sa National Junior Championships at ang Under-18 ang magsisilbing National Inter-Collegiate.

“The competitions have been age categorized in keeping with how FIBA categorizes its tournaments,” sabi ni Barrios na nakatuwang sina SBP vice chairman Ricky Vargas at FACC Local Organizing Committee official Aboy Castro sa pagsasagawa ng 22nd FIBA-Asia Champions Cup sa PhilSports Arena sa Pasig.
