Castilo, Carlos umabante sa semifinal round ng PBaRS

MANILA, Philippines - Humataw ng magkahiwalay na panalo sina top seed Gelita Castilo at Manila leg winner Bianca Carlos patungo sa semifinal round ng women’s Open singles sa MVP Sports Foundation-Bingo Bonanza Philippine Badminton Ranking System (PBaRS) tournament sa Davao City kahapon.

Tinalo ni Castilo, asam ang kanyang unang leg crown matapos sumegunda sa naunang dalawang leg ng circuit na inorganisa nina Vice President at Phi­lip­pine Badminton Association president Jejomar Binay, Rep. Albee Benitez at businessman-sportsman Manny V. Pangilinan, si Ana­celi Gonzales, 21-7, 21-4, sa quarterfinals.

 Makakatapat ni Castilo sa semis si Bianca Legaspi, giniba si local bet Ginalee Daymiel, 21-14, 21-11.

Pinayukod naman ni Car­los si Rosemarie Toto, 21-7, 21-5, para sa kani­lang semis duel ni Fatima Cruz, sumibak kay Joy Pacot, 21-10, 21-10.

Umabante rin sa semis si Antonino Gadi, ang back-to-back champion sa men’s Open singles, habang napatalsik naman si two-leg winner Joper Escueta sa boys’ 19-Under class mata­pos sumuko kay Rabie Jason Oba-ob bunga ng kanyang leg cramps.

Hindi nakayanan ni Escueta ang pananakit ng kanyang binti.

Binigo ni Gadi si Charlo Tengco, 21-9, 21-8, upang makalaban sa semis si No. 4 Peter Magnaye na tumalo kay Aries delos Santos, 21-16, 21-14.

Nilusutan ni second seed Paul Vivas si Ronel Estanislao, 27-25, 21-18, patungo sa semis.
