Melligen KO sa Argentine boxer

Manila, Philippines - Ang sobrang kumpiyansa ni Filipino Mark Jason Melligen ang nagresulta sa kanyang ninth-round KO loss kay Sebastian An­dres Lujan ng Argentina sa welterweight fight sa Freeman Coliseum sa San Antonio, Texas.

Apat na beses pinabag­sak ng 31-anyos na si Lujan ang 26-anyos na si Me­lligen patungo sa kanyang tagumpay sa kanilang non-title bout.

“He probably was overconfident,” wika ni Lujan kay Melligen. “I think my power may have surprised him.”

Nasa isang 12-fight winning streak ngayon si Lujan mula noong 2007 para sa kanyang 38-5-2 win-loss-draw ring record kasama ang 24 KOs kumpara sa 21-3-0 (14 KOs) ni Melligen.

Napabagsak ni Lujan si Melligen sa sixth, se­venth, eighth at ninth rounds na naggaling sa kanyang over­hand right.

Ang unang tatlong rounds ay ibinigay nina judges Rick Crocker, Ruben Garcia at Joel Elizondo kay Melligen, No. 16 sa WBC welterweight division, bago ang dominasyon ni Lujan.

“This should open some doors for me,” sabi ni Lujan, pumalit sa orihinal na kalaban ni Melligen na si Freddy Martinez ng Mexico. “I’m ready to fight any of the ranked fighters in my division.”
