Perpetual 'di pa rin paglalaruin si Gomez sa NCAA Season 87th

Manila, Philippines - Maski na pinayagan na ng NCAA Policy Board na makapaglaro si Marlon Gomez ay nagdesisyon na­man ang host University of Perpetual Help System na hindi gagamitin ang 6-foot-3 forward para sa 87th season ng NCAA.

Si Gomez ay ang isa sa dalawang players mula sa Perpetual na gumawa ng kontrobersya noong na­karaang taon dahilan sa eligibility issue.

Ang isa pa ay si 6’4 Paul Nuilan, nanggaling sa Far Eastern University bago lumipat sa Letran College at sa Perpetual.

Sinabi ni Perpetual president Anthony Tamayo kahapon sa PSA Forum sa Shakey’s UN Avenue na gusto nilang buksan ang NCAA season na walang kontrobersya kaya nila hindi paglalaruin si Gomez.

“It was a very difficult decision to make. But we have decided that Marlon Gomez will not be asked to play for the team this year,” ani Tamayo.

Unang naglaro si Go­mez sa Philippine Christian University hanggang makipag-ensayo sa Jose Rizal University matapos mabuwag ang PCU.

Buhat sa JRU, nagtu­ngo si Gomez sa Perpetual bago ang 2010 season.

Nakasama ni Tamayo sa Forum na inihahandog ng Shakey’s, Outlast Battery, PAGCOR, at Smart si NCAA management committee chairman Mike del Mundo na mula rin sa Perpetual.

 “The university believes that a basic gentleman’s agreement was overlooked in that every school in the NCAA should have the courtesy to ask permission from another school before any player can transfer schools,” sabi ni Tamayo.
