Azkals maghahanap ng Fil-Am booters

MANILA, Philippines - Magdaraos sina Philippine football team captain Aly Borromeo at defender Anton del Rosario ng tryouts para palakasin ang Azkals pool of players sa Abril 9-10 sa Gellert Park sa Daly City, San Francisco, USA.

Hahanap sina Borromeo at Del Rosario ng mga booters na may edad 15 hanggang 24-anyos.

Sa kasalukuyan, 25 pla­yers na ang nagpahayag ng kanilang interes na sumali sa tryouts na pamamahalaan rin ng ilang US college football coaches.

“The players are co­ming from all over,” ani Del Rosario. “There were at least eight from the East Coast looking forward to the tryouts in New York City but we’ve asked them to fly to San Francisco instead so we can assemble the pla­yers all together. It’s more practical to hold the tryouts in the US than ask the players to fly all the way to Manila. We’ve got players coming in from Canada, too.”

Isang camp sa Europe ang pinaplano rin ng Azkals, ayon kay Borromeo.

Target ni Borromeo na makakuha ng mga pla­yers na bubuo sa under-23 squad para sa 26th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games sa Indonesia sa Nobyembre.

Sina goalkeeper Neil Etheridge, 21, reliever Christopher Camcam, 16, defender David Basa, 21, striker Yannich Tuason, 21, Fil-German Patrick Hinrich­sen, 20, at Fil-Dutch Jason de Jong, 21 ang mga players na nasa under-23 pool.

Samantala, umalis na ng bansa kahapon sina Etheridge at Fil-Spanish recruit Angel Guirado para bumalik sa England at Spain. Si Etheridge ay naglalaro para sa Fulham sa premier league season, habang may pitong laro pa si Guirado para sa Deportivo Ronda ng Malaga sa Division III.
