PASA iimbestigahan ng Kongreso sa nawawalang P30M

MANILA, Philippines –  Sinimulan na ang isang imbestigasyon kaugnay sa P30 milyon na natanggap ng Philippine Aquatic Sports Association (PASA) mula sa Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corpo­ration (Pagcor) noong 2008.

Hinahanap ni House Committee on Youth and Sports chairman Renato Unico Jr. ang naturang pondo kung saan nabigo ang PASA, nasa ilalim ni Mark Joseph, deputy sec­retary-general ng Philippine Olympic Committee (POC), na mailabas ito.

Dumalo sa nakaraang hearing sina Joseph, POC president Jose “Peping” Cojuangco, Jr. at Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman Richie Garcia.

Kinumpirma ng isang Pagcor lawyer na nag-remit ang nasabing ahensya ng P30 milyon sa PASA noong 2008 at karagdagang P30 milyon sa PSC noong 20­09. Ang nasaabing mga pondo ay para sa training ng swimmers para sa 2012 London Olympics.

Ipinagpaliwanag ni Unico si Pagcor representative Atty. Judie Gloria ukol sa nangyari sa naturang P30 million remittance.

“We received a request from then Commissioner Ramirez to deduct the assistance given to PASA from the PSC chair. That was two to three years ago. He was replaced by Angping who requested that the practice be ended or terminated. He also asked for the money and Pagcor gave it back. There was an amount, I’m not sure,” ani Gloria.

Ang nawawalang P30 milyon ay bahagi ng P100 million government funds na nananatiling unliquida­ted sapul noong 2007.

Ang malaking bahagi ng unliquidated advances ay P80 milyon na ginastos ng PSC para sa Manila Southeast Asian Games Committee ni Cojuangco para sa 2005 SEA Games.

Tututukan rin ng Youth and Sports Committee ang mga reklamo laban kay Joseph.

Sinabi ni dating national swimmer at ngayon ay lawyer Ma. Luz Arzaga-Mendoza na maaring kumilos si Joseph bilang President at Treasurer sa pagtanggap at paggastos ng nasabing pondo. Si Akiko Thompson, Commissioner ng PSC, ang treasurer ng PASA.

Aalamin rin ng komite ang PASA funds na nagka­kahalaga ng halos P50 mil­yon mula sa membership fees, donations at financial assistance buhat sa international Olympic Committee Solidarity Movement at International Swimming Federation (FINA) mula nang maging pangulo si Jo­seph noong 2004.
