MANILA, Philippines – Habang patuloy sa paghahanap ng kanilang mga permanenteng venue ang archery, equestrian at ilan pang sports associations, pondong P6 milyon naman ang ibinigay ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) para sa pagpapaayos sa Panaad Stadium sa Bacolod City.
Ang naturang football field ay gagamitin ng Philippine football team na Azkals sa kanilang laro kontra Mongolia para sa 2011 AFC Challenge Cup qualifying match sa Pebrero 9.
“The preparation of the Panaad venue is still ongoing but most of it were already completed like the locker rooms, showers and even the lights, most of which we got from the ones in Paglaum Stadium,” ani PSC chairman Richie Garcia.
Maliban sa Panaad, plano rin ng sports commission na ipaayos ang maalamat nang Rizal Memorial Track and Field Oval sa Vito Cruz, Manila para maging isang football stadium.
“A few weeks ago we inspected the Rizal Memorial Oval and we found out that some 50 of our light bulbs are ruined,” anii Garcia. Ayaw naman ni Gracia na magtayo ng panibagong sports venues.
“I don’t think its adviseable to construct a 20,000 or 50,000-setter venue. The best thing to do is to renovate our existing facilities like the Rizal Oval and Panaad, which would save us a lot of money,” sabi ni Garcia.
