MANILA, Philippines - Umabot na sa 148 siklista sa pangunguna ng mga elite squads ng LPGMA-Parañaque at 7-11 Roadbike Philippines ang lalahok sa 2010 National Open Cycling Championships na nakatakda sa Disyembre 6-11 sa ilalim ng Integrated Cycling Federation of the Philippines (ICFP).
Sinabi ni ICFP president Dr. Philip Ella Juico na maaari pa itong lumobo matapos magparamdam ang ilang club teams.
“The field may even reach 160 to 170. This is just sports, we should all be united if the aim is to promote healthy competition and at the same time, develop the cyclists’ skills in an actual tournament,” wika ni Juico, dating chairman ng Philippine Sports Commission at ex-Secretary ng Department of Agrarian Reform sa ilalim ni dating Pangulong Corazon Aquino.
Bukod sa paglalahok ng bigating tropa, ang Renato Dolosa-led LPGMA team ay tutulong rin sa nasabing bikefest sa pamamagitan ng ambulansya.
Ang iba pang clubs na nagkumpirma na ay ang Subic-Olongapo ni President Edwin Sentesas at Daniel Mallari, Cebu ni Joe Derezas, Cagayan –Tuguegarao ni Tommy Arugay, Cavite ni Ronnie Hebron, Davao ni Dominic Carpio, East Pangasinan ni Jess Garcia, West Pangasinan ni Roy del Prado, Mileage Team Nueva Ecija ni Ramon Asuncion at Nueva Vizcaya ni Lupo Alava.
Ang lahat ng siklista ay patutuluyin sa Samar House sa Samar Avenue, isa sa mga naging headquarters ni President Noynoy Aquino sa kanyang campaign period.
Ang National Cycling Open, huling idinaos noong 1985 sa Cagayan de Oro City, ay magtatampok sa track, mountain bike at road race events bukod pa ang photo contest na may premyong P15,000, P10,000 at P5,000.
