Adornado Phoenix Fuel-Comeback Player Award ibibigay sa PBAPC Awards Night

MANILA, Philippines –  Noong 1981, nagbalik si William ‘Bogs’ Adornado mula sa isang career-threa-tening knee injury para ma­kuha ang kanyang ikatlong Philippine Basketball Association Most Valua­ble Player award habang naglalaro para sa U-Tex Wranglers.

Sa Setyembre 29, pararangalan ng Philippine Ba­sketball Association Press Corps ang isang player na nakapagpakita rin ng magandang laro matapos ang injury sa pamamagitan ng 2009-2010 Comeback Player of the Year na inihahandog ng Phoenix Petroleum.

Ang naturang karanga­lan ay papangalanang William ‘Bogs’ Adornado Trophy bilang pagbibigay halaga sa kontribusyon ng nasabing multi-titled player at Hall of Famer.

Hinalaw rin ang Coach of the Year at ang Executive of the Year awards mula kina coach ‘The Maestro’ Baby Dalupan at team manager Danny Floro ng maalamat na Crispa Redmanizers.

Si Adornado, naging unang player na umiskor ng 2,000 points na kanyang naitala sa finals ng 1976 All-Filipino, ay nagkaroon ng isang knee injury sa 1976 Open Conference at hindi nakalaro ng halos dalawang taon.

Noong nakaraang sea­son, kinilala si Mike Cortez bilang Comeback Player of the Year habang naglalaro para sa San Miguel na kanyang natulungan sa 4-3 victory sa sister team Barangay Ginebra sa kanilang best-of-seven series.

Ang iba pang nanalo ng Comeback Player of the Year award ay sina Mike Hrabak (2008), Gary David (2007), Danny Seigle (2006), Jayjay Helterbrand (2004), Bong Ravena (2003), Ronnie Magsanoc (2002), Ato Agustin (2000), Benjie Paras (1999), Glen Capacio (1998), Paul Alvarez (1997, 1993), Ritchie Ticzon (1996), at Yoyoy Villamin (1995).
