Boxing license sa Texas makukuha na ni Margarito

MANILA, Philippines - Anumang araw ay ina­asahang malalaman na kung matutuloy ang laban nina Manny Pacquiao at Antonio Mar­garito sa Dallas Cowboys Stadium sa Arlington, Texas sa Nobyembre 13.

Sa isang panayam, si­na­bi ni Susan Stanford, pub­lic re­lations specialist para sa Texas Department of Licen­sing and Regulation, na hindi aabutin ng isang linggo ang magiging desisyon ng TDLR ukol sa hinihinging lisensya ni Margarito.

“We have received the license and a check for which is the licen­sing fee. And it’s currently under review. And, there’s approximately three-to-four people who will review it,” ani Stanford.

Dahil ibinasura ng California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) ang apela ng 32-anyos na si Margarito para sa muling pagbabalik ng kanyang boxing license, hindi maaaring itakda ang kanilang laban ng 31-anyos na si Pacquiao sa MGM Grand sa Las Vegas, Nevada.

Bunga nito, minabuti ni Bob Arum ng Top Rank Promotions na dalhin ang Pacquiao-Margarito fight sa Cowboys Stadium sa Texas.

“We’re looking forward to and hoping that Texas will issue a license. We fully expect that they willl,” sabi ni Arum. “And we will then announce the press tour and the dates of the various cities.”

Ang press tour ng Pacquiao-Margarito fight ay ilulunsad sa Los Angeles ka­sunod sa New York.

“We expect to start next Tuesday in Los Angeles, and then do New York. And then make a stop off Thursday with Manny in Washington, D.C. with USA Today. They’ve asked us to visit with them. The last press conference will be in Dallas,” ani Arum.

Matatandaang sinuspinde ng CSAC ng isang taon si Margarito makaraang masangkot sa isang ‘hand-wrapping scandal’ sa kanyang ninth-round knockout loss kay Sugar Shane Mosley noong Ene­ro ng 2009.

Nakatakdang pag-aga­wan nina Pacquiao, may 51-3-2 win-loss-draw ring record kasama ang 38 KOs, at Margarito (38-6-0, 27 KOs) ang nabakanteng World Boxing Council (WBC) light middleweight (154 pounds) title.
