Knights kakasahan ang Heavy Bombers

MANILA, Philippines - Kung may bagay mang gustong makuha si coach Louie Alas, ito ay ang kauna-unahang back-to-back wins ng kanyang mga Knights.

Mula sa malaking panalo sa pagsasara ng first round, hangad ng Letran College ang kanilang ikalawang sunod na tagumpay sa pakikipagkita sa mainit na Jose Rizal University ngayong alas-4 ng hapon sa second round ng 86th NCAA men’s basketball tournament sa The Arena sa San Juan.

“Our goal is to have out first streak this season, we hope to accomplish it in the second round,” sabi ni Alas sa kanyang Knights, umiskor ng 88-65 panalo sa Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals noong Lunes na nagtampok sa kanilang season-high 11 three-point shots kung saan anim rito ay mula kay Jaypee Belencion.

Sinikwat naman ng Heavy Bombers ni Vergel Meneses ang kanilang ikalawang dikit na ratsada nang talunin ang Cardinals, 61-54, noong Miyerkules.

Kasalukuyang tangan ng San Beda College ang liderato sa bisa ng kanilang 8-0 rekord matapos walisin ang first round kasunod ang nagdedepensang San Sebastian College-Recoletos (7-1), Jose Rizal (6-2), Mapua (5-3), Arellano (3-5), Letran (3-5), EAC (2-6), College of St. Benilde (2-6) at University of Perpetual Help-System Dalta (0-8).

Bukod kay Belencion, aasahan rin ng Knights sina Kevin at Kris Alas, Franz Dysam at Jam Cortes kontra kina 6-foot-7 Cameroonian Joe Etame, Alex Almario, John Lopez at JR Bulangis ng Heavy Bombers.
