Lacuna, Alkhaldi pasok sa finals sa YOG

SINGAPORE --- Gumawa ng eksena sina Filipino swimmers Jessie King Lacuna at Jasmine Alkhaldi, habang nabigo naman ang three-on-three basketball team sa Day 2 ng 2010 Youth Olympic Games kahapon.

Umabante ang 16-anyos na si Lacuna sa finals ng 200-meter freestyle mula sa kanyang bilis na 1:51.52.

Pumasok ang 17-anyos na si Alkhaldi sa finals ng 100m freestyle nang magtala ng tiyempong 58.16 segundo.

“It’s not her best time yet, she just swam to qualify first and from her original rank of 16th she climbed to 13th,” sabi ni Chef De Mission Mark Joseph kay Alkhaldi bukod pa ang pagpuri kay Lacuna. “Lacuna made the finals in the 200m freestyle and ranks seventh in the world. “

Tumapos si Lacuna, produkto ng Palarong Pambansa at lumahok sa Philippine Olympic Festival ng POC, bilang seventh overall.

Ang Russian tanker na si Andrey Ushakov ang nanguna sa heat sa kanyang bilis na 1:50.34.

Bukod kay Lacuna, ang iba namang nakarating sa finals sa 200m freestyle ay sina Venezuelan Cristian Quintero (1:50.93), Kiwi Matt Stanley (1:51.21), Canadian Chad Bobrosky (1:51.36), Chinese Dai Jun (1:51.42), Canadian Jeremy Bagshaw (1:51.42) at Dutch Dion Dressen (1:51.90).

Minalas naman ang koponan nina Bobby Ray Parks, Jr., Jeron Teng, Cris Michael Tolomia at Michael Pate makaraang yumukod sa US Virgin Islands, 28-34, sa 3-on-3 basketball competitions sa Scape Youth Space.

Iniwanan ng Virgin Islands ang RP Team, 12-21, patungo sa kani­lang ikalawang sunod na panalo makaraang igupo ang South Africa, 28-12, noong Linggo.

Tumipa si Kadeem Jones ng 16 points para sa Virgin Islands kasunod ang 8 ni Rasheed Swanton.

 Nagbida sina Teng at Parks para sa Nationals mula sa kanilang 12 at 8 points, ayon sa pagkakasunod.

Nauna nang natalo sina taekwondo jin Kirk Barbosa at tennis player Jeson Pat­rombon
