Django, anim pang Pinoy pasok sa Last 16 ng World Pool

MANILA, Philippines - Pinamunuan nina "Django" Bustamante, Marlon "Marvelous" Manalo at Antonio "Nickoy" Lining ang tatlo pang Filipino cue artists na pumasok sa Last 16 ng 2010 World Pool Championships sa Qatar Billiards and Snooker Federation hall sa Doha, Qatar.

Tinalo ng tubong Tarlac City na si Bustamante si 2008 WPA World Junior titlist Ko Pin-yi ng Chinese-Taipei, 11-8, sa Last 32.

"Grabe. Matatag pa din ‘yung Taiwanese, ayaw bumitiw sa laro," wika ni Bustamante,kinuha ang 5-1 at 6-2 lamang bago nakalapit si Ko sa 4-6 sa 10th rack.

Giniba naman ng pambato ng Mandaluyong City na si Manalo si dating US Open 9-ball king Shane "The South Dakota Kid" Van Boening ng United States, 11-7.

"Mabuti nakauna agad tayo kay Shane at medyo maganda din tumbok natin hanggang sa huli," sabi ni Manalo.

Mula naman sa malamyang simula, iginupo ng Calapan, Oriental Mindoro native na si L­ining si Nguyen P.Long ng Vietnam, 11-6, upang ma­kasama sina Bustamante at Manalo sa Last 16 ng torneo.

Nagmartsa rin sa Last 16 sina Francisco Felicilda, Raymund Faraon at Oliver Medenilla.
