MANILA, Philippines - Binuksan nina Francisco “Django” Bustamante at Lee Vann “The Slayer” Cor­teza ang kanilang kam­panya sa pagsisimula ng 2010 US Open 10-ball championship sa Riviera Hotel and Casino sa Las Vegas Nevada.

Winalis ni Bustamante si American Neil Cummins, 9-0, samantalang ti­nalo naman ni national open champion Corteza si Tony Robles, 9-6, sa double elimination, winner’s break format sa torneong naglalatag ng US$89,000 total pot prize kung saan US$20,000 ang makukuhang magkakampeon.

Nagmula si Bustaman­te sa paghahari sa nakaraang World Professional Bil­liard League’s Super Se­ries of Billiards sa Mc Phillips Station Casino sa Winnipeg, Canada.

“Pinilit ko talaga na ma­kauna at makalayo agad para makaiwas sa silat,” sabi ng tubong Davao City na si Corteza, naghari sa 1st Annual Hard Times-Mezz Cues 10-Ball Open sa Hard Times Billiards sa Bellflower, Los Angeles.

Hindi rin nagpahuli si Al Lapena nang talunin si Peter Dimmick, 9-4, at tinalo naman ni Ed­win Montal si woman pool player Jennifer Baretta, 9-6.

Sariwa pa sa kanyang pagkakapanalo sa World Pool Masters, nagpasikat rin si Dennis ‘Robocop’ Orcullo nang kanyang igu­po si Raj Hundal ng In­dia, 9-4.

Bumawi naman si Roberto Gomez sa kalabang si Imram Majid ng Great Britain sa iskor na 9-1 at giniba ng Hall of Fa­mer at 2010 Player of the Decade na si Efren ‘Ba­ta’ Reyes si Bobby Wei­mar ng US, 9-3.
