SAN JOSE, Tarclac, Philippines - Matapos ang makulay na opening ceremonies, limang gintong medalya naman ang pag-aagawan ng mga elementary at secondary athletes sa athletics events ng 2010 Palarong Pambansa dito sa Tarlac Recreational Park.
Ang mga finals events na nakahanay ngayong araw ay ang elementary boys’ triple jump, elementary girls’ shot put, secondary boys’ long jump, shot put at triple jump at secondary girls’ javelin throw.
Sa Day 2 bukas, nakalatag naman ang mga gold medals sa elementary boys’ discus throw at long jump, elementary girls’ triple jump, secondary boys’ javelin throw at 3,000-m steeple-chase at secondary girls’ long jump, shot put at triple jump.
Sa swimming competition, pakakawalan naman ang mga events sa elementary boys at girls’ 200m freestyle, 400m freestyle, 100m backstroke, 50m butterfly at 4x50m medley relay.
Papagitna rin sa secondary boys at girls’ events ang 400m freestyle, 100m backstroke, 200m butterfly at 4x50m medley relay.
Ang mga finals events ay nakatakda sa hapon.
Bukod sa archery at arnis na lalaruin lamang sa high school class, ang iba pang sports na nakahanay sa elementary at secondary levels ay ang athletics, badminton, baseball, basketball, boxing, chess, football, gymnastics (artistic at rhythmic), sepak takraw, softball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis at volleyball.
Kabuuang 15 competition venues ang siyang mamamahala sa 17 sports sa secondary level at 15 sa elementary class.
Ang Tarlac Recreational Park ang siyang main hub ng mga sports events ng nasabing annual sports meet.
Ang iba pang venues ay ang Tarlac Plazuela sa Tarlac City, ang Victoria covered court sa Victoria town, Sunrise Subdivision, Lapuz Coliseum, Bayanihan Institute, Provincial Capitol gym, Hacienda Luisita, Paniqui Court, San Sebastian Court, Diwa ng Tarlac Park, Nolcom Park, Don Bosco, San Isidro Covered Court, CLDH Covered Court, San Rafael Covered Court at ang Ecumenical Christian College.
