Nietes sumeguro ng tanso sa China Open; Saludar nagpasikat din sa Thailand

MANILA, Philippines – Dalawang tansong me­dalya ang natiyak na ng mga Filipino amateur pugs sa sinalihang torneo sa Thailand at China.

Sumeguro ng tansong medalya si light flyweight Gerson Nietes sa kauna-unahang China Open sa Guiyang, Guizhou pro­vince sa China.

Makakasagupa ni Nie­tes sa semifinal round si Idyay Sulay-Minov ng Kazakhstan sa nasabing two-star AIBA-sanctioned event na bahagi ng preparasyon ng Amateur Bo­xing Association of the Philippines (ABAP) para sa 16th Asian Games.

Kasama ni Nietes sina Lightweight Jameboy Vi­cera at light welterweight Rey Melligen na nakatak­dang harapin sina Farha­ny Radoune ng France at Huricha Bilige ng China, ayon sa pagkakasunod.

Bahagi rin ng seven-man RP contingent sa Chi­na sina flyweight Rey Saludar, featherweight Charlie Suarez, bantamweight Francis Palicte at welterweight Wilfredo Lopez.

Sa 32nd King’s Cup sa Bangkok, Thailand, tinalo naman ni flyweight Victorio Saludar si Sanwad Laxman ng Nepal, 7-2, para tiyakin ang bronze medal at Final four appe­rance.

Makakalaban naman ni lightflyweight Crisanto Godaren si Alexander Sa­moytov ng Russia.

Tanging si featherweight Jhergigs Chavez ang nakatikim ng ka­bi­guan nang yumukod kay Jo-Min Jae ng Korea via 3-4 setback.
