MBA Open crown pinagulong ni Paeng

MANILA, Philippines - Sa kabila ng kanyang edad, nananatili pa rin sa six-time world champion na si Paeng Nepomuceno ang dating tikas at pamatay na porma nang sa kanyang kapanauhan ay siya ang pinaka-do­minanteng manlalaro sa local bowling world.

Ito’y makaraang igupo ng 53-anyos na kaliweteng bowler at natatanging four-time winner ng prestihiyosong World Cup, ang nakakabatang kalaban nitong Linggo at ibulsa ang MBA Open Mas­ters bowling championship sa Paeng’s Midtown Bowl sa Robinson’s Place Manila.

“It feels so good to be a champion again. What makes it more meaningful is it’s my 120th career victory,” wika ng 6-foot-one na si Nepomuceno ng Nutrilife/Amway makaraang pigilan si Ramil Cisneros ng AMBA-FCO, 247-221 sa finals.

Tumapos naman sina Charles Tee, Nikko Go at Jeff Carabeo ng third, fourth at fifht places taglay ang 2,408, 2369 at 2,366, ayon sa pagkakasunod.

Naungusan ni Cisneros si Nepomuceno sa unang laban, 240-207, subalit nagawang maka-rekober ng beteranong kaliwete sa extra game upang idiskaril ang kanyang kalaban.

Ang iba pang rated bowlers na hindi nakalusot sa shootout round ay sina Paulo Valdez, Kap Aguila, Garry Custodio, Steward Chua, RJ Bautista, Raoul Miranda, Benshir Layoso at Frederick Ong.
