RP yumuko sa UK sa Street Child WC

MANILA, Philippines - Bagamat naging matatag, natalo pa rin ang mga Pinoy sa United Kingdom, 2-4, sa pag­bubukas ng Deloitte Street Child World Cup sa Durban, South Africa kamakalawa.

Kinalaban ng mga Filipino street children ang mas malalaki at mas malalakas na mga English kids sa isang scoreless draw sa first half bago naiwanan sa 0-3 at makadikit sa 2-3.

Ang nasabing dalawang su­nod na goals ng koponan ay nanggaling kina MonMon Elona at Noriel Pideones.

Sa kabila ng pagkatalo, na­ging kuntento naman si RP team co-manager Craig Burrows sa inilaro ng mga RP street kids na tinawag niyang “Little Dynamites”.

“It’s a pretty good score. I don’t think you can find a Philippine team that can come up with as good a score against an English squad. We’ll just keep praying for our team,” ani Danny Moran, isang dating national player at presidente ng Moran Foundation.

Makakatagpo naman ng RP squad ang Tanzania ngayong alas-9 ng gabi.

Ang iba pang bansang kalahok ay ang Brazil, India, Nicaragua, South Africa, Ukraine at Vietnam.
