MANILA, Philippines - Kung mayroon mang gustong pagbalingan ng kanyang galit si Mexican world three-time champion Fernando “Cochulito” Montiel, ito ay si Filipino challenger Ciso “Kid Terrible” Morales.
Bago itaya ang kanyang suot na World Boxing Organization (WBO) bantamweight title laban kay Morales, nanggaling muna si Montiel sa isang third-round technical draw kay Mexican Alejandro Valdez noong Setyembre 14.
Nangako ang 30-anyos na si Montiel na hindi na siya mapapahiya sa kanyang laban sa 22-anyos na si Morales sa “Pinoy Power 3/Latin Fury 13” sa Pebrero 13 sa Las Vegas Hilton sa Las Vegas, Nevada.
“I know that I have prepared as well as I can and that not only will I win the fight I will do it in a spectacular fashion,” wika ni Montiel kay Morales.
Ibabandera ni Montiel ang kanyang 39-2-2 win-loss-draw ring record kasama ang 29 KOs, habang taglay naman ni Morales ang 14-0-0 (8 KOs) slate.
“I just haven’t had the chance to fight some of the best fighters in my division and that has not been my fault. I have always wanted to fight the best and I hope I get the chance to fight guys like Nonito Donaire, and Vic Darchinyan,” ani Montiel.
Nasa boxing card rin ang pagdedepensa ni Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire, Jr. (22-1, 14 KOs) ng kanyang World Boxing Association (WBA) interim super flyweight crown laban kay Mexican challenger Gerson Guerrero (34-8, 26 KOs).
Maghaharap naman sina world two-division titlist Gerry “Fearless” Peñalosa (54-7-2, 36 KOs) at dating WBA flyweight champion Eric Morel (41-2-0, 21 KOs) para sa title eliminator ng WBO bantamweight belt.
Ang mananalo sa pagitan nina Peñalosa at Morel ang sasagupa sa mananaig kina Montiel at Morales. (RCadayona)
