Panahon na para magkasundo ang POC at PSC-Romasanta

MANILA, Philippines - Matapos ang kanilang sigalot noong 2009, panahon na para magkaayos ang Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) at ang Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).

Ayon kay POC spokesman Joey Romasanta, handa silang makipag-usap kay PSC chairman Harry Angping upang malinawan ang kani-kanilang papel.

"Actually, wala namang problema doon between the two gentlemen. Trabaho lang ito at walang personalan," sabi ni Romasanta kahapon sa lingguhang PSA sports forum sa PSC Dining Hall sa Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

Sinabi ni Romasanta na dapat nang magkasundo ang POC at ang PSC para sa darating na 16th Asian Games sa Guangzhou, China na nakatakda sa Nobyembre 12-27.

"Noong panahon ni chairman Butch Ramirez umuupo sila ni Congressman Peping Cojuangco kapag may problema at hindi nila pinapalipas ang araw na hindi nila ito napagkakasunduan," pagkukumpara ni Romasanta. "I guess it's about time that we put things in order. It's just a matter of understanding one's role and prerogative."

Para sa 2010 Asian Games, kabuuang 473 gold medals mula sa 42 sports ang nakalatag.

Noong nakaraang Asian Games sa Doha, Qatar, apat na gintong medalya ang naiuwi ng delegasyon mula sa boxing, billiards at wushu events para maging 18th-placer.

"The IOC (International Olympic Committee) said this is probably the Asian Games with the most number of events. There are 473 golds. If we win the 73, they can have the rest," sabi ng POC official.

Nagmula ang bansa sa respetadong pagtatapos sa 25th Southeast Asian Games sa Laos noong Disyembre kung saan humakot ang mga atleta ng kabuuang 38 gold, 35 silver at 51 bronze medals. (Russell Cadayona)
