Concepcion pinayuhan ni Luevano
MANILA, Philippines - Bagamat hindi siya ang taong dapat magbigay ng ‘advice’, hindi ito iniintindi ni world featherweight champion Steven Luevano.
Sa panayam ng Fightnews.com kahapon, sinabi ni Luevano na hindi pa ito ang tamang panahon upang isalang sa isang world boxing championship si Filipino Bernabe “The Real Deal” Concepcion.
“I think he still needs a lot more experience,” ani Luevano kay Concepcion. “They might be pushing him a little bit to fast than what he can actually accomplish.”
Tinalo ni Luevano si Concepcion via disqualification sa seventh-round ng kanilang World Boxing Organization (WBO) featherweight championship noong Agosto 15 sa Hard Rock Hotel & Casino sa Las Vegas, Nevada.
Bagamat tumunog na ang bell, sinuntok pa rin ng 21-anyos na si Concepcion ang 28-anyos na si Luevano na naging dahilan ng pagkakadiskuwalipika sa kanya ni referee Jay Nady.
“I was winning the fight. I have no doubt in my mind that I was winning the fight and I think he knew he was losing so he had to do something to try and take me out or to hurt me in order to start hitting me,” ani Luevano sa naturang laban.
Matapos ang naturang disqualification, nakatakda namang umakyat sa boxing ring si Concepcion sa “Pinoy Power 3/Latin Fury 13” sa Pebrero 13 sa Las Vegas Hilton sa Las Vegas, Nevada.
Itataya naman ni Luevano ang kanyang WBO featherweight belt kay Puerto Rican challenger Juan Manuel Lopez, binitawan ang hawak na WBO super bantamweight crown, sa Enero 23 sa Madison Square Garden sa New York. (Russell Cadayona)
