3 o 4 na gold ang target sa Asian Indoor Games

MANILA, Philippines - Mula sa naiuwing tig-isang gintong medalya sa nakaraang dalawang edisyon, kumpiyansa ang mga sports officials na makakapitas ng tatlo hanggang apat na gold medal ang de-legasyon para sa Asian Indoor Games sa Oktubre 28 hanggang Nobyembre 8 sa Vietnam.

Ito ay bunga na rin ng pagkakadagdag sa wo-men's boxing, wushu at billiards and snooker event sa nasabing biennial meet na idinaos sa Bangkok noong 2005 at sa Macau noong 2007.

“Definitely, the chance for us to bring home more gold medals is there with the inclusion of the three sports, which will be disputed for the first time,” ani Julian Camacho, ang chef de mission ng Team Philippines.

Gagabayan naman ni mentor Billie Alumno, ang tanging gold medalist sa First Asian Indoor Games sa Bangkok noong 2005, ang muay thai team na binubuo nina Maricel Subang, Preciosa Ocaya, Jay Harold Gregorio, Zaidi Laruan at Romnick Pabalate.

Maliban sa women's boxing, wushu, billiards and snooker, ang isa pang events na nakalatag sa 2009 Asian Indoor Games ay ang dance sports, athle-tics, swimming, shuttle cock, hoop sepak takraw, futsal, bowling, petanque, aerobics gymnastics, chess, kickboxing, jujitsu, 3-on-3 basketball at pencat silat.
