'Dream Team' ang sasabak sa Laos SEAG billiards

MANILA, Philippines - Dream Team. Ayon sa Billiards and Snooker Congress of the Philippines (BSCP) ito ang perpektong paraan ng pagsasalarawan ng 16-man squad na isasabak ng Pinas para sa 25th Southeast Asian Games sa Vientiane, Laos sa Dis-yembre.

Sa pangunguna ni pool icon, Efren ‘Bata’ Reyes taas-noong iwawagayway rin nina Francisco “Django” Bustamante, Ronnie Alcano, Alex Pagulayan, Dennis Orcollo, Lee Van Corteza, Ramil Gallego, Roberto Gomez, Gandy Valle, Warren Kiamco, Rodolfo Luat, Reynaldo Grandea at Benjie Guevarra ang watawat ng bansa.

Maging si reigning World Women’s 10-Ball champion Rubilen Amit, katuwang sina Iris Ranola at Mary Ann Basas ay babandera rin para naman sa women’s division.

Halos lahat ng kaka-tawan sa naturang isport ay mga miyembro ng Billiards and Managers and Players Association of the Philippines at ng Senator Manny Villar’s Team Villards: Tulong sa Pagsulong ng Philippine sports, kung kaya’t wala kang maitulak kabigin sa pagiging eksperto ng bawat manlalaro.

“This is the best billiards team ever formed,” pahayag ni BSCP president Arturo “Bong” Ilagan. “No other team in the world is better than this. The United States can form a dream team in basketball, we are the only country that can do so in billiards and this is it,”,dagdag pa nito.

Para sa English Billiards event, makakasama ni Reyes sina Luat at Grandea habang lalaban naman para sa 9 Ball events sina Bustamante, Corteza, Orcollo at Gallego. Tatargetin nina Alcano, Valle at Kiamco ang korona para sa 8 ball tournament habang magpapakitang gilas sina Pagulayan, Gomez at Guevarra sa snooker competition. (Sarie Nerine Francisco)
