MANILA, Philippines - Makalipas ang ilang kabiguan, sa wakas nagawa ring maipanalo ng De La Salle University ang kanilang laban upang makapasok sa win column ng UAAP men’s basketball tournament sa PhilSports Arena, kahapon.

At ang kanilang unang biktima, ang University of the Philippines na kanilang iginupo sa iskor na 73-63.

Dahil sa panalong ito, umahon sa huling puwesto ang Green Archers at nakatabla sa National University sa 1-2 marka.

“There’s no problem in our defense. Our first two losses is all about execution. We were able to address that by executing our plays well,” wika ni Green Archers coach Franz Pumaren.

Muling bumandera si James Mangahas sa kanyang kinamadang 7-of-13 shooting para sa 15 puntos na produksiyon. 

Nagningning din para sa Green Archers sina Bader Malabes at Joshua Webb na tumirada ng pinaghalong 29 puntos. 

Sa ikalawang laro, mu-ling nagbida si Mark Barroca para sa Far Eastern University nang humugot ito ng krusiyal na jumper may 26.5 tikada ang nasa orasan upang ilista ang 63-60 panalo kontra sa Adamson University.

Nagtulong sina Barroca at RR Garcia na may pinagsamang 26 puntos para sa Tamaraws habang nagdadag ng 11 puntos at 11 rebounds si Reil Cervantes para sa double-double performance.

Nakatabla ng Tamaraws ang University of the East at University of Santo Tomas sa ikalawang puwesto sa 2-1 baraha kasunod ng Ateneo na may imakuladang 3-0 karta.

“Hindi ko aakalain na mananalo kami kahit we shot 10-of-27 sa foul line and we went 25-of-64 shooting sa field. Nahirapan kami nang husto, we need to improve our mental toughness,” ani coach Glenn Capacio. (SNFrancisco)
