$10,000 ang premyo sa Subic Olongapo Open Pool championship

MANILA, Philippines - May kabuuang $10,000 at Richard Gordon Trophy for Excellence ang naghihintay sa magwawagi sa first Subic-Olongapo Open Pool Championships na gaganapin sa Abril 21-23 sa Olongapo City Convention Center.

May 48 foreign players at Filipino players ang pumirma ng kanilang paglahok sa torneong, may basbas ng Asian Pocket Billiards Union.

Ito ay magkatulong na ihohost ng Olongapo City Government na pinamumunuan ni Mayor James Gordon at Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority na pinamamahalaan naman ni Administrator Armand Arreza.

Labing-siyam na foreign players mula sa East Asia, Southeast Asia at Middle East ang bubuuo sa foreign contingent. Ito ay babanderahan nina world junior champion Ko Pinyi ng Taiwan, Ricky Yang ng Indonesia, Amir Ibrahim ng Malaysia , Kenji Taguchi ng Japan, at Taiwan ’s current No. 1, Fu Che-wei.

Sa parte naman ang Philippines, 29 players na ang nagparehistro para sa torneo sa pamumuno ni national champion Marlon Manalo, Asian Games gold medalist Antonio Gabica, world ten-ball semifinalist Demosthenes Pulpul, at world juniors runner-up and 2009 Billiard Stars Search champion Jericho Banares.

Ang Olongapo City ay kakatawanin ng dalawang batang player na sina Florencio Banar at Daniel de la Rosa.

Ang Subic-Olongapo Open Pool Championship ay gaganapin sa dalawang yugto. Ang stage 1 ay elimination o qualifying round na idaraos sa Star Billiards Center sa Quezon City sa April 18 and 19.

Ang Stage 2, ang main tournament ay bubuuin ng 32 players, na tutungo naman sa Olongapo City .
