LAS VEGAS — Hindi nakuha ngayon ni Angelo Dundee ang kanyang gusto.
“These things happen in boxing,” aniya pagkatapos ng masaklap na kabiguan ng kanyang pinakabagong estudyante na si Oscar Dela Hoya laban sa pambato ng Philippines na si Manny Pacquiao.
Si Dundee ang nagtrain sa mga sikat na fighters ng mundo at kinuha siya ni Dela Hoya para ibahagi niya ang kanyang kaalaman sa Team Dela Hoya. Umasa silang lahat.
“You’d think we had everything to the T,” aniya.
“I think Dela Hoya gave everything he had out there and you have to give him credit. It was just not his night,” dagdag ni Dundee.
Sinabi niyang maganda ang magkaroon ng ganitong laban, sa kasamaang palad nga lamang ay natalo ng ganoon si Dela Hoya.
“The guy was in great shape. But the other guy was in better shape. Dela Hoya was ready to beat Pacquiao. He did all the preparation. But the best laid plans of mice and men go bye-bye,” aniya sa punung-punong media center.
Ang akala niya kakayanin nila si Pacquiao, “I was dead wrong. I hope I’ll get it right next time,” aniya. (A.Cordero)
