SBP tutulong sa Laos para maidaos ang basketball sa SEAG

Magbibigay ng tulong ang Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas sa Laos para maisama ang basketball sa kanilang hosting ng Southeast Asian Games sa Vientiane sa susunod na taon.

Sinabi ni SBP executive director Noli Eala na handa silang magbigay ng kahoy sa Laos o ihost ang event dito sa Manila ang basketball event.

“Of course, we’re for the inclusion of basketball. It’s a sure gold medal for us and it’s an opportunity for us to help the RP delegation,” ani Eala.

May pagkakataon si Eala na ilobby ang basketball event sa SEA Games federation meeting sa November 8 dahil inimbitahan itong sumama sa grupo ng mga RP Officials ni Philippine Olympic Committee official Go Teng Kok.

Hindi kasama ang basketball sa 25 events na idaraos sa Vientiane. May 22 sports nang naaprobahan.

“Mr. Go Teng Kok informed us there are two proposals for basketball to be included in the Games. One is a donation of a wooden floor to Laos. Second, for basketball to be played in Thailand near the Laos border. We’ll make our own proposal, through the POC, for us to host the event in the Philippines,” ani Eala. (Nelson Beltran)
