Ito ang mariing sinabi ni Amateur Boxing Association of the
Ipinaliwanag ni Lopez na ang pagpili ay isinigawa ni head coach Dagoberto Rojas Scott, isa sa dalawang Cuban coach sa national team at ng national boxing coaching staff, matapos ang pag-aaral at pag-analisa sa naging performance ng mga boksingero sa taunang slugfest.
‘‘The national coaching staff headed by Scott also put into consideration the physical built, mental toughness and the ages of the boxers particularly in the junior division,’’ paliwanag ni Lopez.
Ang mga baguhan sa women’s team ay sina Palawan’s Maricris Igan, Norlyn Amar (Iloilo) at Karina Recaido (Cotabato) sa 46 kgs; Maria Prayjie Baja ng Puerto Princesa City sa 48 kgs, Mary Joy Cacal ng Puerto Princesa City at Iloilo’s Irish Magno sa 50 kgs; Baguio’s Redlyn Digmayo at Nesthy Pestacio ng Britanico Boxing sa 54 kgs class.
Makakasama nila ang mga beteranong sina Josie Gabuco, Alice Kate Appari, Annie Albania, Annaliza Cruz, Jouvilet Chilem, Mitchel Martinez at Ronijen Sofla.
Habang sa seniors squad na babande-rahan ng mga veteran internationalists Harry Tañamor, Joan Tipon, Orlando Tacu-yan Jr, Delfin Boholst, Adam Fiel, Junel Cantancio, Willy Lopez, Charly Suarez, Froilan at Rey Saludar, Godfrey Castro inilagay ng national coaching staff sa reserves sina Jher Chavez at Joegin Ladon (57 kgs) at Jose Rob Montero sa 51 kgs.
