Condes seryoso sa paghahanda laban kay Garcia

Bilang paghahanda sa kanyang kauna-unahang title defense, nakatakdang lumipat ng training camp si Filipino world minimumweight champion Florante “The Little Pacquiao” Condes sa ALA Boxing Gym sa Cebu City.

Makakasama ni Condes, ang kasalakuyang International Boxing Federation (IBF) minimumweight titlist, sa pamosong boxing gym ni Tony Aldeguer si trainer Danny Bactol.

Itataya ng 27-anyos na tubong Sampaguita, Looc, Romblon ang kanyang korona laban sa Mexican challenger na si Raul Garcia sa Hunyo 14 sa La Paz, Mexico City.

Ibabandera ni Condes, inaasahang kikita ng $50,000 bilang premyo sa kanyang unang title defense, ang kanyang 22-3-1 win-loss-ring record kasama ang 20 KOs, habang dadalhin naman ni Garcia ang malinis na 22-0-1 (15 KOs) slate.

Nakatanggap lamang si Condes ng $3,000 mula sa kanyang unanimous decision laban kay Thai fighter Muhammad Rachman para makuha ang bakanteng IBF minimumweight belt noong Hulyo 7 sa Jakarta, Indonesia.

Samantala, makakasagupa naman ni Philippine bantamweight king Michael Domingo si dating World Boxing Organization (WBO) bantamweight ruler Jhonny Gonzalez ng Mexico sa Mayo 9 sa Morongo Casino sa Cabazon, California.

Ang nasabing laban ni Domingo at Gonzales, inagawan ni Gerry Peñalosa ng WBO bantamweight crown noong Agosto 11, ayon sa manager ng Mexican na si  Reginaldo Kuchle, ay sa super bantamweight category. (Russell Cadayona)
