World 10-ball hosting 5-years sa Pinas

Limang taon na iho-host ng bansa ang World Ten Ball Championships.

Ito’y matapos makuha ng Raya Sports ang right ng hosting mula sa World Pool Association.

Ang inaugural staging ay gaganapin sa Setyembre 29 hanggang Oktubre 5 at ang napipisil na venue ay ang Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).

Pormal na naiselyo ang kasunduan sa pirmahan ng kontrata nina Billiards and Snooker Congress of the Philippines (BSCP) Chairman Yen Makabenta na siya ring Raya Sports and Events Manager president  at WPA president Ian Anderson sa Pantalan Restaurant kahapon kung saan ginanap ang official launching ng event.

Bukod pa rito ay may karapatan din ang BSCP na mag-renew ng kontrata ng tatlong taon.

Ayon kay Makabenta, magkakaroon din ng mga babaeng cue artist na kalahok sa torneong ito na siyang sumisikat ngayon sa bilyarista na inaasahang papatay sa dating 9-ball.

Dumating din sina BSCP president Ernie Fajardo, BSCP secretary-general Julius Nidea.

“This gives our country the opportunity to brand this major pool championship as our own,” sabi ni Makabenta.  “As a vehicle for national promotions and sports development, the possibilities and opportunities are limitless.”

Umaatikabong $400,000 total prize money ang ipapamahagi sa lahat ng magwawagi kung saan ang champion ay tatanggap ng $100,000 top prize.

May nakalaan ding pabuya sa manlalaro na magkakamit ng most number of golden breaks at consecutives runouts sa WTBC.

May kabuang 128 players na pipiliin ng WPA at ng host. Mayroon ding mga wild card entries at magkakaroon din ng qualifying rounds. (Mae Balbuena)
