Padilla, mas pinaghandaan ang paboritong event

BANGKOK --Para kay Nathaniel ‘Tac’ Padilla, ang kanyang malakas na fifth place na tinapos sa standard pistol kahapon ay isang magandang warm-up at magandang pangitain sa kanyang paboritong rapid-fire event ngayon.

Nagmintis sa pinakamanipis na margin para sa bronze medal si Padilla  isang magandang performance kung ang kapabilidad niya sa rapid fire na kanyang apat na beses na napagwagian noong mga nakaraan ang pag-uusapan.

At kung mangyayari ang inaasahan ni Padilla, malamang na masungkit ng Team Philippines ang unang gintong medalya sa 24th SEA Games shooting competition na ginaganap sa Thai shooting range sa loob ng Hua Mark Sports Complex dito.

Habang sinusulat ang balitang ito, patuloy ang pananalasa ng well-funded at well-trained Singapore team sa kanilang nabaril na limang golds, 4 silvers at 3 bronzes kasunod ang host team Thailand na may 4 golds, 8 silvers at 2 bronzes.

 Ang Philippines ay may dalawang medalya  na maipapakita, ang silver mula sa trap team nina Eric Ang, Carlos Carag at Jethro Dionisio at bronze mula naman kay air rifle shooter Emerito Concepcion.

“I narrowly missed a medal but it feels good because I’m not expecting anything in this event. My training was focused on rapid fire,” wika naman ni  Padilla, na ang pinakamagandang tinapos sa  standard pistol ay ikalawang puwesto.
