Venue para sa Thailand SEAG hindi pa tapos

Inaasahang magkakaroon ng problema ang pamamahala ng Thailand para sa 24th Southeast Asian Games sa Disyembre 5-15.

Ito, ayon sa ilang opisyales ng National Sports Council (NSC) na bumisita sa Thailand, ay bunga ng hindi pa natatapos na $200-Million Nakhon Ratchasima Sports Complex sa Korat na siyang pagda-rausan ng 27 mula sa kabuuang 40 sports events.    

Nagtungo ang isang grupo ng NSC officials sa Thailand kamakai-lan para magsagawa ng occular inspection na siya ring pakay ng tropa ni Philippine Sports Commissioner Richie Garcia.

Sa naturang lakad, halos 60 porsiyento pa lamang ng mga venues sa Nakhon Ratchasima ang nakukumpleto, habang ang iba naman sa Bangkok at Chonburi (Pattaya) ay hindi pa nauumpisa-han ang pagpapaayos.

“The organizers have promised us that everything will go on according to plans,” wika ni NSC’s director of elite athletes division chief Mohd Ariffin Ghani kasama si deputy chef-de-mission Zaiton Othman.

Magiging isyu rin sa ikaanim na pagkakataong pamamahala ng Thailand sa SEA Games ang kanilang problema sa pulitika.  

“The political situation in Thailand does not augur well for the Games although Thailand are a capable host, having hosted the Games five times before. But looking at what’s going in the kingdom, I’m certainly concerned whether the Games will be held at all,” ani Olympic Council of Malaysia  secretary Datuk Sieh Kok Chi.
