POC nagbuo ng komite para mag-usisa sa NSAs

Isang komite ang binuo ni Philippine Olym-pic Committee (POC) president Jose "Peping" Cojuangco, Jr. sa hanga-ring usisain ang naging kampanya ng ilang National Sports Associa-tions (NSA)s sa naka-raang 15th Asian Games sa Doha, Qatar.

Kabilang sa mga NSAs na kukuwestiyunin ng komite na pangungu-nahan ni POC chairman Robert Aventajado ng taekwondo ay ang ath-letics, baseball, swim-ming, karatedo at football.

Gusto ni Cojuangco na malaman ang dahilan ng bawat NSA president sa mahina nilang ipinakita sa 2006 Doha Asiad.

"A committee was created to be headed by chairman Aventajado to look into the performance of baseball and some other NSAs and to see what has to be done to improve that situation," ani Cojuangco kahapon.

Sa naturang quadren-nial event, 4 gold, 6 silver at 9 bronze medals ang iniuwi ng Team Philippines mula sa boxing, billiards and snooker, lawn tennis, golf, taekwondo, wushu, equestrian at karatedo.

Matatandaang ipina-ngako ni Philippine Amateur Baseball Association (PABA) chief Hector Navasero na maganda ang ipapakita ng kanyang tropa sa 2006 Doha Asiad.

Dahilan rito, pina-kiusapan ni Aventajado si Nueva Ecija Gov. Thomas Joson III na magpaluwal ng pondo para sa biyahe ng national baseball squad sa Doha. Nagbigay ang Gobernador ng P600,000 para sa nasa-bing pagpunta ng kopo-nan.

Bukod sa mahinang kampanya sa 2006 Doha Asiad, may nakarating ring balita kay Cojuangco hinggil sa internal problem sa karatedo at football.

"We recieved certain complaints from some of its members," ani Co-juangco sa karatedo at football. "It was passed on to the committee of chairman Aventajado to look into these alle-gations." (Russell Cadayona)
