Noong 2002 sa Busan Asian Games, nag-uwi ng tatlong golds ang RP Squad mula kina four-time world titlist Paeng Nepomuceno at RJ Bautista sa men’s doubles sa bowling; Francisco Bustamante at Antonio Lining sa 9-ball doubles sa billiards at Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski sa show jumping event sa equestrian.
"This might be one of the most underestimated teams (to the Asiad). They lack in funding and training compared to the 2005 SEA Games preparations. But with what I’ve seen from the athletes, their dedication and perseverance, they might be able to deliver better results," ayon sa RP Chef de Mission na si William ‘Butch’ Ramirez.
Ayon kay Ramirez, nangangahulugan itong may posibilidad na mahihigitan ng mga atleta ang limang gintong target. "They might deliver tremendous results by honouring the country with more golds."
Kailangan lamang na masanay agad sa klima ang mga atleta at magkaroon ng epektibong estratihiya dahil sa iba’t ibang klima dito, sabi pa ni Ramirez.
"As for us in the secretariat, our role is basically to make it seamless for everyone," Ani Ramirez. "But our only concern now is how to tell our athletes not to overeat because food’s aplenty. It’s all over".
