Alcano, kampeon sa Blaze 9-Ball Tour

Namayani si dating  AZBilliards Rookie of the Year Ronnie Alcano kontra kay 2004 Fil-9 Ball Open ruler Antonio Gabica, 9-6, sa classic rematch sa finals ng Blaze 9-Ball Tour 24th stop na ginanap sa Rockway Billiards sa New Jersey.

Sina Alcano at Gabica, ay nakapasok sa last 16 sa katatapos na US Open sa Chesapeake, Virginia.

Pinayuko ng 34 anyos na patpating cue artist na si Alcano mula Calamba City, sina Jason Michas, 7-3, Danny Basavich, 7-5 at Joe Pierce, 7-2, para makatapat ang kababayan at kapwa stablemate na 38 anyos na si Gabica mula Lapu Lapu City, Cebu, na dinaig naman sina Carmen Lombardo, 7-6, Billy G, 7-0, at Bob Geurra, 7-0.

Sa mainitang bakbakan para sa hot seat match, tinalo ni Gabica si Alcano para mapunta ang huli sa loser’s brackets matapos ang 7-5 victory ng una.

Subalit ang kinikilalang  No. 1 player sa 15th ball rotation ng bansa na si Alcano, ay nagkaroon ng pagkakataon na makaresbak kay Gabica ng manaig kay Sean Morgan, 7-5, sa back door.

Sa finals iba na ang naganap matapos makontrol ni Alcano ang kabuuang laro para sa paggiya ng 9-6 na tagumpay tungo sa kampeonato.

Dahil sa natamong tagumpay, nakopo ni Alcano ang halagang US$650 premyo, tumanggap naman si Gabica ng runner-up US$400, ibinulsa naman ni Morgan ang third prize na US$250 habang hindi naman uuwing luhaan si Geurra na may consolation prize na US$200 para sa fourth placer.

Ito ang ikatlong titulo ni Alcano sa Blaze 9-Ball Tour matapos magwagi sa unang dalawang event noong nakaraang buwan. 

Pinagharian niya ang Blaze Tour Stop 21 sa Green Room Billiards sa Maple Shade, New Jersey at dinomina naman ang Blaze 9 Ball Tour Stop 22 sa Cosmo’s Billiards sa Dickson City sa Pennsylvania.  

Habang ang isa pang Filipino sensation na si Marlon "Marvelous" Manalo, ang nagbulsa ng $99,000,00. para sa second place sa 2006 North American International Pool Tour (IPT) 8-Ball shootout noong Hulyo sa Venetian Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada ay nagkampeon naman sa Blaze 9-Ball Tour Stop 19 noong Agosto.

Tinalo ni Manalo si American Mike Davis, 11-2, sa finals na ginanap sa Castle Billiards sa East Rutherford, New Jersey.
