Ateneo kontra National U

Sa kabila ng masaklap na overtime loss sa University of Sto. Tomas, hawak pa rin ng Ateneo De Manila University ang liderato. 

Ayon kay head coach Norman Black, may tatlo pa silang larong dapat ipanalo upang ganap na makopo ang No. 1 spot sa Final Four. 

"We still have three more games remaining in the eliminations, and we want to win them all to secure the No.1 position," ani Black. "But more than that, we need three more wins -- one in the Final Four and two in the finals -- to win the championships, and that’s the most important (thing)." 

Haharapin ng Blue Eagles ang Bulldogs ng National University ngayong alas-4 ng hapon sa second round ng 69th UAAP men’s basketball tournament sa Phil-Sports Arena sa Pasig City. 

Nagwakas ang eight-game winning streak ng Ateneo nang mabigo sa five-time champions Growling Tigers via over-time, 80-88, noong Linggo na nagpaantala sa kanilang paglapit sa top seat sa Final Four.  

Kagaya ng Blue Eagles, nanggaling rin ang Bulldogs, nasa isang three-game losing skid, ni Manny Dandan sa pagkatalo matapos yumukod sa nagdedepensang FEU Tamaraws, 60-72, noon ring Linggo. 

Tangan pa rin ng Ateneo ang pamumuno sa likod ng kanilang 8-1 kartada kasunod ang UE (7-3), Adamson (5-5), UST (5-6), FEU (5-6), NU (3-7) at sibak nang UP (3-8). 

Tinalo ng Blue Eagles ang Bulldogs, 75-70, sa kanilang unang pagkikita noong Hulyo 8. (Russell Cadayona)
