Pinoy chessers nalo sa Ecuador

Iginupo ni Oliver Dimakiling si Miguel Medina para pangunahan ang men’s RP Team tungo sa 3-1 panalo laban sa No. 59 Ecuador matapos ang sixth round ng 37th World Chess Olympiad na ginaganap sa Olympic Village sa Turin, Italy.

Sumunod naman na nanalo ang kan-yang mga teammates na sina national open champion NM Dawin Laylo at ang 12-year-old FM na si Wesley So na tumalo kina IM Daniel Mieles matapos ang 47 moves ng Colle System Opening at IM Plinio Pazos sa marathon 60 moves ng Modern Defense sa board two at four, ayon sa pagkakasunod.

Bukod tanging si GM Carlos Franco Matamoros ang nanalo sa Ecuador nang kanyang pigilin si GM Eugene Torre sa 36 moves ng English Opening sa board one.

Sa kababaihan, nanalo sina Belarusians Nadezhda Azarova at WIM Tatiana Berlin kina WNM Catherine Pereña at WIM Beverly Mendoza sa board one at three habang nakatabla naman si rookie WNM Sherily Cua kay WIM Anna Sharevich sa board two.
