UP hari ng UAAP men’s baseball

Tinalo ng University of the Philippines (UP) ang University of Santo Tomas (UST), 5-0, nang kanilang gamitan ng malabakod na depensa ang Tigers upang makopo ang men’s baseball crown sa Season 68 ng University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) kahapon sa Rizal Memorial diamond.

Ito ang ikapitong titulo ng Maroons para kumpletuhin ang kanilang comeback laban sa Season 67 champion Tigers.

"We practiced for the whole year," ani Rajah Singh, UP assistant coach. "We always thought we have the talent. Nag-jell ang team, then we peaked at the right time. The boys deserve to be champs."

Hindi na sana umabot ng Game-Three ang serye kung hindi kumulapso ang UP sa Game-One sanhi ng kanilang 10-9 pagkatalo.

Tinanghal si Vladimir Eguia bilang Most Valuable Player, habang ang kanyang UP teammate na si Joseph Apura ang nagbulsa ng Rookie of the Year trophy. Ang iba pang individual awardees ay sina National University players Justin Torio (Best Slugger), Robles (Best Pitcher at Best Hitter), Christian Galedo (Most Stolen Bases), at Jake Cumlat ng UST (Most Runs Batted In).

Naghati-hati naman sina Carlos Millaez ng UP, UST bets Julius Gerona, Erwin Manuel at Al-Denn Lozada, at Marvin Malig ng Adamson sa Most Home Runs award.
